From the original liner notes:
“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.” - Anaïs Nin
A Strange Kind Of Beauty is written by Christie Grace and arranged by Bill Runge, whose time has come 20 years later! It is a gentle Celtic- inspired melody that reaches into my Irish roots. It speaks of the strength and beauty of letting go.
It wasn’t included on Late Bloomer because I felt it didn’t complement the overall Latin - Pop vibe. I am finally releasing it now because firstly, it feels to be the right time and secondly in this climate of fear and confusion, I think it is good to remember the possibility of experiencing a strange kind of beauty in places least expected.
lyrics
for dj / Written by Christie Grace / Arranged by Bill Runge
When I see your eyes, in the memory of my heart.
All I know is I loved you, right from the start
How was I to know, that we’d fall between,
Dreams of tomorrow and what we’d once been.
Take to the stars, take to the sky
So long my raven, farewell and fly
Your love made me high, sweet music to my soul,
What a strange kind of beauty, comes from letting go.
Didn’t mean to hurt you, didn’t want to cry,
All those years of wishing, life passing on by.
Didn’t want to lose you, didn’t think I could go.
I’ll always remember and I thank you so.
